Cleaning For Busy Parents

One of the biggest realizations that comes with having children is just how little time you end up having for anything else. Between feeding them, clothing them, putting them to bed, taking them to sports practice, picking them up from school, and a thousand other things, it can seem impossible to find time for the other, necessary domestic work around the house. If you are trying to economize on time as best as you can, you might find these cleaning tips for busy parents to be helpful.

Establish a routine.

Knowing what you are doing, where you are going and having your strategy laid out ahead of time makes you more efficient. When your cleaning routine is muscle memory, you can unconsciously go room to room, spot to spot, without even thinking about it. You waste time when you approach cleaning aimlessly so make sure that you have a well established cleaning routine that works, and stick to it.

Pick up while you go.

Sometimes it might seem as if there is not enough time to declutter a dirty room and clean it at the same time. Not true. If you pick up while you clean, you can do both. Instead of first running around and picking things up off the floor, or rearranging things on the table, vacuum and pick up at the same time. Dust and rearrange books and magazines simultaneously.

Stock up on supplies.

Keep the necessary cleaning supplies around the house. Instead of having one, centralized location that you need to go to for every single room in the house, keep bathroom cleaning supplies in the bathroom, and keep an assortment of supplies in different rooms around the house so that when a room needs cleaning, you don't have to spend time going back and forth .

Wash toys in a laundry bag.

Another big realization that comes with having children, and the toys that inevitably comes along with them, is just how grimy toys can get. Sitting and hand washing each individual toy separately is going to eat up most of your allotted cleaning time. Throw the toys in a mesh bag and put them in the washing machine to economize on time.

Keep pet hair at bay.

If you have a dog or a cat that sheds a lot, it is unavoidable that hair is going to be everywhere. Instead of taking each and every pillow or throw outside when you notice it has been saturated with pet hair and dander, keep a lint roller in the room so that all you need to do is give them a quick once over.

Cleaning takes time and effort, and while your energy as a parent may be there, it can often be difficult to reconcile with your very limited time. Keeping the house clean is a necessity, so you are going to have to do it one way or another. Why not make it as easy as possible on yourself and your schedule by incorporating some of the above cleaning tips for busy parents into your cleaning philosophy.
